Anfield

Going to Liverpool in 2015 was about two things; Liverpool Football Club and the Beatles.

Neale’s bucket list – In 1974, Liverpool beat Newcastle 3-0 in the FA Cup and I remember watching it in the early hours of the morning and have been a fan ever since.

The Anfield tour (Liverpool’s home ground), started at the Liverpool Docks – freezing cold and windy, in a supporter’s double decker bus with commentary all the way.

The one thing I really had never known, is how close Anfield was to Everton’s home ground Goodison Park – lot of history there!

Being able to do a tour of Anfield before the renovations started in 2015 was a dream come true.

You were able to see the trophy room that had four European Cups (now five), the press room, change rooms and to walk out onto the pitch through the players tunnel was incredible.

To see the Kop end and listening to “You’ll never walk alone” blaring over the loudspeakers was an amazing experience.

Shivers up the spine stuff!!

I haven’t watched a game live at Anfield, but that trip I did get to see Tottenham play Manchester City at White Hart Lane with my son, which was awesome.

In 2018 I was lucky enough to watch Liverpool play Crystal Palace away for a win…a great day!

Who knows, maybe one day I will be lucky enough to go to Anfield and watch Liverpool play live…
